Weekly Update - 19.05.17

19 May 2017 (by admin)

An update on the learning that took place last week (wk beginning 15.05.17) and a look forward to next week's learning (wk beginning 22.05.17).

This week has been another week in which all pupils have worked hard in lessons and completed some fantastic learning.

Year 2 pupils have been completing assessments and tests this week and have really tried hard to do their very best.

Our Year 6 pupils having completed their tests last week have started studying the fantastic novel Kensuke’s Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo. They have also completed a range of maths challenges this week as well as writing some brilliant poetry linked to ‘Gallery Rebels,’ their Cornerstones Interactive Learning Project for this half term.

Elsewhere in the school all pupils have been continuing to focus on making progress in English, Mathematics and other curriculum subjects.
Next week is an exceptionally busy week starting on Monday 22nd May at 9.00am with our workshop for parents led by the NSPCC regarding how to keep children safe online. Years 5 on Monday morning are visiting Tamworth Fire Station to take part in Safety Town and on Wednesday we have workshops for Year 6 and Year 5 pupils led by the NSPCC with the theme: Speak Out – Stay Safe. We also on Wednesday have (taking place after school at 6.00pm) our summer music concert led by Mrs Griffiths.

As is usual in the week before the half term break we have our assessment week with pupils completing tests in reading and mathematics in order to inform teacher judgements about pupil progress and attainment.

On Friday next week (26th May) we will be having a non-uniform day to mark the end of this half term and raise funds for our school (pupils are invited to wear non uniform for a voluntary contribution of £1 to school funds).

The assembly theme last week was Speak Out – Stay Safe and we had a visitor from the NSPCC on Wednesday to deliver assemblies on this theme to KS1 and KS2 pupils. The theme of next week's assemblies (wk. beginning 22.05.17) is: Teamwork / Working together.

Last week's Word of the Week was 'incomplete'. Next week's Work of the Week' (wk. beginning 22.05.17) is 'cooperate’.

This week's Number of the Week was 27,000. Next week it is 54,000.

Well done to 6N who won our attendance award this week achieving 100% (perfect attendance) for the week ending 12.05.17.

Mars won our weekly house points competition this week and remain in first place overall.
