Chair Person's Report

The 2017-2018 school year was another good year for FOMS. There have been a number of extra people join FOMS and that has given us more scope to continue with many more events to benefit the school.

We have supported and funded a number of events throughout the year which have included discos for both KS1 and KS2 children; both the Summer and Winter fayres; the school pantomime and various non uniform days. Of course these were also supported by members of staff from Millfield Primary and this help is always gratefully received. There was also the Year 6 fun day and we helped fund the lunches towards that, together with the Year 6 leaver hoodies, which every child received as a momento of their time here at Millfield.

Even though we part funded the new play area in the playground known as the ‘Social Zone’ during the 2016/2017 school financial year, due to delays, the children have actually benefitted from it during the last year.

We have also helped fund the new Computing Room which will hopefully be completed during the next few months.

We have a full programme of events coming up over the next few months including a winter disco, non-uniform days, Christmas decorations competition, and the Christmas fayre. We have different things planned for the New Year and with recent new members we are getting new ideas for events all the time. All dates and events will be displayed either on the school website, the FOMS Facebook page or on a newsletter which is produced by our Publicity Secretary, Mrs Newbold. Information is also sent out by the Front Office via text to personal phone accounts, a service which is also appreciated.

Obviously for all of these events we need continued support and welcome any new members and new ideas, so please contact us if you would like to join the committee, have any good fundraising ideas or would like to help out on an ad hoc basis at any of our events.

At this time I would like to say a personal thank you to the FOMS committee for their support, dedication and commitment especially regarding the time they spend on doing wonderful things for the children and the school. The summer fayre was a perfect example of everyone pulling together both on the day and behind the scenes. Without them and the time they give for free, we would not be able to raise so much money that provides our children, past, present and future, the ‘extras’ that enhance their lives and maintains the high standards at Millfield.
