Learning Update - Wednesday 13th January

13 January 2021 (by admin)

An update on learning completed at home and at school since the start of the week.

Good morning everybody.

It has been fantastic to see so much great learning going on at home and at school this week.

We know it is tough for everybody at the moment balancing work, home and learning but everybody is doing their best and with a bit of luck we should all be back in school sooner rather than later.

We are all getting to grips with Google Classroom and using it for setting and collecting work. We also recognise the challenge many families have over sharing devices between siblings. We have applied for some Chromebooks from the government and have been reconditioning some school laptops and Ipads to go out to parents. We are also grateful to our friends at FOMS (Friends of Millfield School) for their donation to help fund the purchase of technology to further support our online learning effort.

It has been great to see so many pupils joining assemblies from home as well as guided reading sessions and story sessions over Zoom.

There is increased expectation on schools from the government that they set at least four hours home learning for KS2 pupils and three hours learning for KS1 during this period of restricted attendance. For some pupils this will be too much for others too little. Do what you can. You are a parent and what your child needs most is what parents give best - love and support.

Don't forget our Times Tables Rockstar Battles are live at the moment with winners announced at our online Star of the Week assembly on Friday afternoon.

Any problems, questions or worries please contact us at school. We are here to help and support.
