School Update – Thursday 25th March

25 March 2021 (by admin)

An update regarding our Parent Consultation evenings and the current situation in school.

Thank you to all those parents / carers who attend the first of our video call ‘online’ Parent Consultation Evenings last night.

First impressions are that these meetings went all – the appointment time flies by though! – So it is really important to be ready to start the meetings as soon as the ‘Start Appointment’ button flashes up. We look forward to meeting more parents / carers online tonight at our next consultation evening.

As parents / carers will be aware we have had significant disruption this week due to several pupils testing positive for Covid19. From being very lucky and having only very minimal disruption to pupil 'bubbles' compared to the majority of schools if feels this week that our luck ran out.

Everybody at Millfield is exasperated by this situation – pupils, parents and staff - and we understand the incredible extra level of frustration that parents / carers must be feeling.

It is vitally important that we all - pupils, parents / carers and staff - continue to follow the strict social distancing and other government Covid19 restrictions that are currently in place until these are relaxed.

It is especially vital that we all follow this guidance at the weekends and over the forthcoming Easter holidays so that there is no surge in infections.

Those pupils at home currently self isolating are making a fantastic effort with the learning at home that is being set for them by their teachers via Google Classroom.

We are very proud of the effort that all pupils are making with their learning both at home and at school - we are especially proud of the resilience they are showing. These pupils have had massive disruption to their lives this past twelve months but they keep on keeping on - they get knocked down but they get up again.  They are amazing.
