A reminder regarding safeguarding procedures at our school.

Millfield Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

At our school we have a culture of safeguarding in order to keep children safe both offline and online.

All staff receive regular training to update them on safeguarding and the key issues locally and nationally, and are frequently reminded for their vital role in keeping children safe including how to access support services and what to do if they have concerns about a child.

The Designated Lead Teacher for Safeguarding is:

Mr S Kelly (Head Teacher)

The Deputy Designated Lead Teachers for Safeguarding are:

Mr R Wiggett (Deputy Head Teacher)

Miss A Crook (EYFS Lead Teacher)

Our Designated Governor for Safeguarding is: Mrs Sue Bramwell

The Designated Governor for Safeguarding meets with the Head teacher (Designated Safeguarding Lead) a minimum of once every term to be updated on safeguarding issues, monitor practice and ensure that the school continues to give the highest priority to this area of its work.

The role of the safeguarding link governor is to:

  • Promote the importance of safeguarding within the governing board whilst observing the confidentiality / sensitivity of specific cases.
  • To liaise with the Designated Safeguarding Lead and report to the governing board as to any staff / governor training undertaken or required and any significant issues that are affecting the school in relation to safeguarding

If parents / carers are concerned about any child’s safety they can contact the Staffordshire County Council First Response service on 0800 1313 126

If it is an emergency situation and a child is in immediate danger then the police should be contacted on 999.
