17 October 2022 (by admin)

Details of learning and events taking place in this final week of this half term and details of some staffing changes.

It is a busy and exciting final week in school before we break for half term this Friday 21st October.

We have our parent consultation evenings on Wednesday and Thursday this week (book here if you have not already made an appointment - and our scooter and skateboarding workshops on Thursday and Friday for KS1 and KS2.

A reminder that Years 1, 2 and 3 will take part in a scooter workshop on Thursday 20th October, and Years 4, 5 and 6 will be skateboarding on Friday 21st October.

Children will need to wear PE kits on the days of their coaching sessions.

These exciting coaching sessions are alongside all our usual learning taking place this week, including continuing to develop children’s vital reading, writing and mathematical skills / understanding as well as their knowledge and abilities in other curriculum sessions.

On Thursday this week we have another 24 children participating in the Year 5 Tamworth schools cross country competition at The Rawlett School.

Our Year 3 and Year 4 pupils have performed brilliantly in the previous events this term representing the school superbly.

We also have some staff changes taking places over the next couple of weeks.

At the end of this week on Friday Mrs Bennett Brock will be leaving us to begin maternity leave. We wish Mrs Bennett Brock all the best for the coming weeks and months and look forward to seeing her back in school in January 2024! The school is currently completing plans to cover for Mrs Bennett Brock’s maternity leave.

Also leaving us at end of the first week after half term on Friday 4th November will be Mrs Brady. Mrs Brady has worked as a teaching assistant at the school since September 2014 Mrs Brady has also done a wonderful job as our school librarian. We wish Mrs Brady good luck as he starts a new role at a different school. All the best Mrs Brady!

We are delighted to have appointed several new staff in recent weeks: Mrs Salisbury will be joining us as teaching assistant in Year 2 after half term. We are also joined after half term by Mrs Downing and Mrs Pile who will be joining our dedicated team of lunchtime supervisors.

We are also looking to recruit another high quality teaching assistant to replace Mrs Jones in Year 5 who left us recently.

Finally a reminder that we do finish for half term this Friday 21st October with pupils returning to school on Tuesday 1st November (staff training day on Monday 31st October).
