Details and dates of some the events taking place in school this half term.
We are now already into the third week of term and want to make you aware of some key date and events in the forthcoming four weeks up until half term.
Some dates for your diary:
Monday 25th September and Tuesday 26th September: Quidditch event day
Did you know that there is now a real life version of the game ‘Quidditch’ from the Harry Potter books? Well there is and our pupils are going to get a chance to play it next week!
Enrich Education will be in school to lead Quidditch event days at our school on Monday 25th September and Tuesday 26th September. More details to follow soon.
In the meantime visit: https://enricheducationuk.com/quidditch/ to find out more about this activity and watch clips of Quidditch being played.
This event has been organised by our PE lead teacher Mr Atkins.
Monday 2nd October: KS1 and KS2 pupils to visit St Paul's Church
Monday 2nd October: Pupils in KS1 and KS2 visiting St Pauls Church for short Harvest services led by Karen Hewish (Children and Youth Minister).
This will be a small event this year with just children attending the services.
All pupils are invited if possible to bring in a donation of tinned food on this day to help support the church with their challenge of creating a ‘can wall’ of 5,000 tins of food to donate to the Tamworth Food Bank.
These services at St Paul's Church have been organised by our RE lead teacher Miss Youson.
Friday 6th October: Visit from RTTW motorcyclists
On the afternoon of Friday 6th October we hope to be visited by some of the motorcyclists taking part in the Ride to the Wall event at the National Memorial Arboretum on Saturday 7th October.
The motorcyclists will park on our playground and talk briefly to the children about the event and the importance of remembrance and the National Memorial Arboretum.
Monday 9th October to Friday 13th October: Year 6 Laches Wood residential visit
On Monday 9th October our Year 6 pupils will depart for their week long residential visit to Laches Wood. This visit is often not only the highlight of their time in Year 6, but of their whole seven years at Millfield.
They will be taking part in a whole range of activities including rock climbing, BMX biking, canoeing, orienteering, sailing, bushcraft, archery and axe throwing! They will also throughout the week be learning important life skills such as independence, communication and cooperation.
The staff accompanying the children on this visit will be Mr Newbold (Visit Leader) Mrs Smith, Mr Kelly and Mrs Brady. They will also be joined by other staff throughout the week.
Mr Wiggett will take on acting head teacher duties whilst Mr Kelly is away with the pupils.
Wednesday 25th October and Thursday 26th October: Parent Consultation evenings
Parent / carers are invited to make an appointment to meet with class teachers to discuss their child’s learning.
Further details of how to book appointments via our SchoolCloud system will be released soon.
These meetings are very important and we would urge all parents / carers to attend.
Friday 27th October: Break for half term
School will finish for the half term break at the usual times on Friday 27th October.
School will reopen to pupils on Monday 6th November
