Cornerstones Imaginative Learning Project - Bright Lights, Big City
What do you know about England's capital city? Let's find out all about London, including its history, transport and famous landmarks.
Year 1 pupils will step back in time and discover what happened in the Great Fire of London. Where did it start? How did it end? Create a model of the bakery on Pudding Lane ... then burn it to the ground to recreate the Great Fire. Stand well back and watch how the flames. spread. London's burning! London's burning! Fire, fire! Fire, fire!
Hang on. there's someone new in town! Plan a tour for Marley the Meerkat (he's come all the way from Zambia, you know) making sure he takes in all the sights and sounds of London before he finally meets his family at London Zoo.
Year 1 pupils will need be ready for the brights lights of the big city as they begin their learning this term!

Cornerstones Imaginative Learning Project - Memory Box
Can you remember being small? Being a baby and learning to crawl?
This half term Year 1 pupils will be looking back at family photos of special occasions - perhaps snapshots of holidays , birthdays, weddings or christenings. They will learn how to write a diary of days gone by, and find out about the days before they were born; its called history and its all about the past.
Year 1 pupils will then make a special box; a memory box to keep special things so that in years to come they can revisit them and remember how they looked and what they did when they were young.
Memories are special....Let's make some more!
Spring 1st half term - 2019
Cornerstones Imaginative Learning Project - Moon Zoom!
Crash! What's that on the school field? Let's go outside and take a look. Stand back everyone - it looks like a UFO has crash landed!
Year 1 pupils will investigate who might have landed the craft. They will make a 'Welcome to Earth' box for an alien explorer explaining what life is like on our planet. They will design and make their own space craft and plan and write about their own journey into space.
They will also learn about the planets and our solar system
Let's hope Year 1 are ready for blast off!

Cornerstones Imaginative Learning Project - Splendid Skies!
Imagine floating high above land and sea on a bed of clouds, silently sweeping by on a billowing breeze.
This half term Year 1 pupils will learn about the seasonal changes around us. They will learn about seasonal and daily weather patterns. They will develop their writing skills by writing poems and postcards and even their own weather reports.
What weather do you prefer? Sunshine, snow, storms or showers? Get you wellington boots on - let's go!
Summer 1st half term - 2019
Cornerstones Imaginative Learning Project - The Enchanted Woodland
If you go down to the woods today your're sure of a BIG surprise! Foxes and badgers, voles and mice, beady-eyed owls in the swaying treetops.
This half term Year 1 pupils will be learning about woodland environments; finding out the difference between deciduous and evergreen trees, the habitats of woodland creatures and learning how to identify trees from their leaves and flowers from their petals.
Summer 2nd half term - 2019
Cornerstones Imaginative Learning Project - Paws, Claws and Whiskers
Soft fur, sharp claws and twitching whiskers... What's your favourite animal? One that meows? One that barks? Or maybe one that scurries or slithers?
From pets at home to animals in the zoo, Year 1 pupils will find out this half term about what animals like to eat and where they like to sleep. They will find out how to look after different animals and what they need to survive and their daily needs.
They will find out about food chains and animals which are herbivores and animals which are herbivores.
After all this learning Year 1 pupils will need to curl up and take a nap ... a cat nap!
